Aftermarket MAF vs Ported/Descreened Stock

A car I am looking at has an aftermarket MAF sensor. I hear horror stories about descreened and ported ones, how good is the aftermarket one?

Is it a reason that I shouldn't get that car? Btw, it is an SLP MAF.

it's not a reason to NOT buy the car...

but realize it probably isn't doing anything for performance. could even be robbing you of 5hp

SLP Maf is basically a Z06 maf with their name on it.

So, how well does a z06 maf work on an ls1 car then?

i think you're dwelling on this way too much.

it's not a make-or-break modification. some people see minimal gains with them, some see nothing.

if you're that worried about it, sell it on ebay for $50 and buy a stock replacement.

i know i ran a ported stock maf on my LT1 with no problems, then i switched to a ZO6 maf (got great deal) and still had no problems. could i tell a difference...NOPE. if there was one..it was probably 5hp...which you'll never feel.
i'm now running the ported maf ends on my 99 ls1, both when it was bolt on and now that it's cammed. my tuner didn't seem to indicate any problems tuning it.
