advice on ls1 mods

i just bought a 2000 z28 with low miles. Im looking at making this car completly bolt on. I wanna run NOS as well. Im looking for a serious high end cam/head package that will work good with NOS. also how much NOS do u thnk i can get away with running this setup? Ive look at some head/cam packages here and there but the prices vary so much and i havent found anything to show true performance upgrades by buying that setup. Whats the range i should be looking at paying here? thnx guys

you say "completely bolt on" but yet you're looking for heads/cam? just want to clarify. bolt ons are typically things like headers, intake, exhaust, etc. heads/cam are internal engine mods. is your car a 6 speed or auto?

Re: advice on ls1 mods

well, since you got an auto, the best thing you can do is get a Yank or Vigilante torque converter! my 99 WS6 runs 12.60 with the Yank 3600, lid, cutout, no cats, and SLP 1.85 rockers. And this was with timing being pulled out due to knock, so there was room for improvement. if you want to get serious about it, you can go into the 11's with just "bolt ons", my car didn't even have headers on it. and the nice thing about having an auto is that you shouldn't have to worry about the 10 bolt for a while...

Re: advice on ls1 mods

You can push stock internals to about 525~550hp. After that, you start to get into trouble internally. So if you go with a H/C package that gets you 400rwhp, you probably don't want to shoot more than a 75 shot. Chances are you're going to need to tweak the fuel supply with that setup as well, which means bigger injectors and possibly a stonger fuel pump to maintain the 58psi we run at. Sticky tires and a stall will get you deep into the 11's with that setup for sure...until the 4L60E goes that is, which is only rated to 450ft/lbs. I'm not trying to sound negative by telling you this. I just hope to help you realize getting a car to work right with that much more hp is going to more than dent your wallet.

I read somewhere that the 4L60E was rated at 350 ft/lbs of torque.

unless your going to get gears and a decent tc, dont go too radical of a h/c setup.
