Advancing 02 LS6 cam

Does anyone know if you can advance an 02 LS6 cam to bring down the power curve some? I don't need power after 6400, but would like more down lower. Has anyone done this? Would you have any piston to valve contact?

6400 is only 200 more than stock....not too bad. and it's designed for good power across the band.

if you can run a .610" lift cam...i'm sure you wont run into any problems with the LS6 cam, which is less than .550"

Re: Advancing 02 LS6 cam

I've seen dynographs of the ls1 cam vs. ls6 and the ls6 doesn't start showing any gains until 4000 rpm. I was just wondering if by advancing the cam maybe 4 degrees or so, it would start pulling at more like 3500 without hurting the overall performance of the cam too much. I know it's designed for the top end pull. I think it's retarded 2 degrees from the factory. I guess not too many people use this cam, and for good reasons......I'm guessing it'll be hard to find someone who's run this cam advanced.
