ls6 with headers

Does the ls6 cam go good with mac headers

What would be the best with no tuning?

Ls6 cam with mac headers

Or

TR cheatr cam with stock exhaust

Looking for 360 rwhp or more without having to tune

Re: ls6 with headers

get the headers, it will help compliment any mod you have or plan to do.

why do you not want a tune?

Re: ls6 with headers

I plan on keeping the car

Can't afford tuning now

But I want the max power without tuning right now

Bigger cam will come later (year or two) and thats when I tune

Re: ls6 with headers

If you get any cam with different timing you will have to get a tune. The computer can only compensate for so much...

But yes, headers are a prerequisite for anything else done to the engine (besides rear end of course)

Re: ls6 with headers

small cam + headers + stock tune = 30hp and $1500

headers + $225 mailorder tune = 20hp and $900

and with the tuned ecm the car will run cooler, smoother and probably get better gas mileage.

and i think madwolf (www.madz28.com) only charges $50 for updates on the tune after the first 6months. so a tune for a cam later on won't be too bad.

i think you're looking at this from the wrong perspective.

Re: ls6 with headers

Honestly, if you're going to open it up to put in one cam, may as well get a bigger one in there and get it tuned at the same time. You won't be happy with an LS6 cam. Mine has a hotcam (a little bigger than an LS6) and I'm not happy at all. If you're going in there may as well replace all the weaker stock parts (pushrods, springs, retainers, etc etc) and get a nice big cam. Send your ECU off to madZ28 or Futural while you're putting it in

Yeah, do it once do it right.

Save up your $$$.

Spend $$ on a bigger cam and get a good tune.

No sense in half assing it, a LS6 cam isn't really that big of an upgrade.

Re: ls6 with headers

you guys are right,

I'll just going to put in headers and ls6 intake now and save for a big cam later with tune.

which cam specs would be the best, i'm looking for across the band gains not just top end, but want to be alittle over 400 rwhp or more

Daily driver too, but love the sound and power, just want to maintaine gas miles.

I guess I'm looking for the most power with just cam no heads, heads will be later (year or two)

Re: ls6 with headers

400 on cam only, while maintaining drivability and milage, is not easy.

i've got the TSP torquer cam (233/233 .589" 112) currently on my cam only engine, plus boltons. and i'm making just under 400. i figure in the low 390s now that i have a good clutch with light flywheel. i think with a bit more tuning i'd hit 400.

with stock rear gears and a 6spd i got 24/25mpg on the highway doing 80mph for 200miles and 55mph for the last 100.

the cam is pretty streetable, it surges a little bit but that should be cured by more tuning. it's definatly got lope to it and a VERY noticable rumble.

i would look into Futral cam, they are the top of the game it seems. many making well over 400hp with cam only on similar grinds to what i have. however i hear they are hard on springs because of it.
