AC Freon released, my fault now what

Guys I was in the middle of swapping out the passenger side plugs on my 99 Z28 when I attempted to disconnect the AC tubing that goes into the cannister. I heard some air/gas escape. Do I have to refill the freon before I start the car so that it doesn't damage the AC Compressor? Just don't want to ruin an expensive part when I can avoid it with a little freon. Thanks,

I'm pretty sure the compressor has a fail-safe switch which does not allow the compressor to engage if there is not enough freon in the system, so you should be fine.

it has a low pressure switch, just leave it off till you can get it charged.
