99 Z won't start
I drove it to a friends house, came out and it wouldn't start. I know that the voltage isn't getting to the solenoid to kick over the starter. Any ideas why?

stroke it?

Try arming and dis-arming the alarm a couple of times. My '95 would do this occasionally and I had to fiddle with the alarm to get the car to start. For some reason the car thought someone had tried to steal the car and had the starter shut off.

Are you getting noise from the fuel pump? That little buzzzzzz coming from the back when you turn the key forward? If you aren't then try to see if you are getting voltage the fuel pump.If you are getting voltage but no noise = bad pump.No voltage means the problem is somewhere else.
If that's not it then I'm out of ideas man, sorry.

Ok Electronics is my field but however it is harder to explain than do it myself. So here goes my best.
1. how do you know that there is no voltage getting to the starter solenoid. Did you test it with a volt meter?
2. if so using the volt meter check the battery voltage and trace it all the way to the starter solenoid. You should have the voltage all the way down there even with the key off… on the solenoid there should be another wire that has no voltage with the key off….. hook up on that wire and try to start the car and see if you get voltage ( don’t be under the car when this is don’t you will need ling test wires to have the volt meter where you can see it) if you do not get voltage than you will need to follow that wire back and see where it loses it power at. BTW Auto Zone and other part stores will check you starter out for free if you have not done that yet.
Try that and let me know
I will take a look at my car and see if I can find anything else it could be tomorrow

thanks. I can hear the fuel pump spooling up when the keys turned on. Also, I checked for the voltage at the solenoid and it is MIA. I think the voltage comes straight from the PCM so I'm gonna try that tomorrow. Please keep the ideas coming.
