98 Z-28 questions bout mods.

I spun 2 rod bearings due to oil pump; I'm going to put a cam in and maybe headers, but I'm a little confused. It is my DD. I honestly just want a good sound from it. Im not gonna drag it or nothing. So what cam would give me that? And would I have to tune it? Everything is stock, trans, clutch, and rearend. Thanks for any info!

You want a cam for the sound? Maybe headers?

Wow. Just wow.

Lemme give you the short of it -- if you do a cam, headers are a must. An aftermarket clutch is a must. Tuning IMO is a must for driveability. An aftermarket gear with a cam-swap is recommended.

Do a search. There are plenty of buildup questions on here.

"It is my DD... Im not gonna drag it or nothing"

and you've decided on the MS3??

another victim of bigcamitis....if not treated quickly it can easily become unhappywithmycamitis

go smaller, tight lobe separation for the sound you want...and get a good tune.

More bad news....

Well, the motor is out and apart and ive found out I am going to have to rebuild it all the way through. The cylinder walls were scored pretty bad. This is getting ugly. I might as well stroke the damn thing. So, who makes a good stroker kit? Help would be appreciated!

for a stroker...go custom cam. lots of lift, flycut and get compression up, and good heads....you'll have a monster!!

New block...

I found a very good block with ls2 heads (with a new valve job) and new cam bearings in the block for 800.00. Now, are the LS2 heads better than my stock LS1 heads? I dont have a clue. Once again, all help would be appreciated!

They make a little more power stock vs. stock. LS2 heads are really 243 casting LS6 heads.

Thanks again. I ordered my cam and all the pieces to go along with it. And also the LS6 oil pump. Anybody need a set of stock LS1 heads?!

I am going to order a new clutch in the next couple of days, and was wondering what to order..010 over block, LS2 heads, MS3 cam and headers.

spec stage 3...and get yourself an LS6 intake...

and i hope you really didn't buy an MS3...Unless you have a great tuner around, be prepared to hate that cam...YOu got springs and pushrods, and all that stuff too, right???
