Is this 98 a good deal?
I got a call from the dealership. The guy did fall through, so I went back to look at it today again. I also took it for a short test drive. The engine seems pretty well, the oil is blacker than black and the car didn't look like it was taken care of. The coolant was horrible, the rear end was leaking. The interior wasn't too bad, but it showed signs of wear. The buttons were dirty and the plastic was scuffed a lot. On the test drive you could tell the tranny is going out along with the rear end. The car also didn't feel like it was handling that well. They said they'd probably go down to 6500, but I'm going to need them to come down to around 5500-6000. This car has some big problems that need to be delt with before she's up to snuff. I know I could fix the problems and probably still be out a little cheaper, but I guess in my mind I'd rather have a car that doesn't look like it had the living **** beaten out of it everyday. I;m still going to consider it, but I'll keep looking.

I actually like the red color the most. I like four colors, Pewter, Dark blue, black, and red. The red I can add the SS hood and the 35th anniversary stripes and would look just like the real thing.

well, if it looks like crap, it smells like crap, it feels like crap... guess what... if its been poorly taken care of on the outside, just think about the inside... and besides, its probably been wrecked....
and as for this salesman "calling you back if the guy falls through"..... BULL$#(T used car salesmen are slimey greaseballs that dont' care who they sell it too.. he was just putting you on, making you think they have a bunch of buyers, so you would think.. " oh man, I better get this hunk of crap before they do." Used car salesmen dont' hold a car for anyone.. they might have a certain price they wont go under, but they don't say.. "oh, mr would-be-buyer... you will think about it and let me know tomorrow...? Sure... I'll hold it for you" Doesn't happen, they have to feed their kids... they don't care who the hell buys it, but they don't squash a potential sale because someone before you said they might buy it..
anyway.. the KBB for that car, retail that is... is $9k... and low book is $5k... so the price is high in my opinion, it sounds in poor condition, so it should be worth less than 5k....
