42hp & 26 ft/lbs tq gain

The blue run is from a few months ago, with an air lid/catback.

The green run is last night, I added pacesetter LT's, ORY, and an LS6 manifold. I started the night with 335 hp & 342 ft/lbs tq and was able to squeeze out a few more hp for a final run of 351 hp & 355 tq (STD). Not too shabby...can't wait to get back to the track now that I have retuned it (was going 8.4 two weeks ago).

It also picked up 5hp with the MAF screen removed. And no the car was not allowed to cool between runs...no tricks, just straight up gain 5hp w/o the screen.

I got horrible detonation by 4800 rpm from a descreened and ported MAF.

Yep,ya let in more air and didn't increase the fuel causing it to run lean.

i hear in the factory MAF theres a small wire or sensor or something that is EASILY jacked up while descreening, which is what casues the problems, my car came with the SLP MAF so i dont know exactly what it is but i've heard to watch out for it.

the maf sensor is exactly that...a series of VERY small wires.

they can either be damaged during the actual screen removal or possibly by something getting through the air filter.

Well ya i know that, i'm not TRYING to sound stupid lol, just came out wrong.. I'll let u know how much of a difference i get when p&p and descreen mine. i'm planning to settle the hp gain questions, my car is stock right now so i'll do 2 dyno runs, 1 before and 1 after. i'll post my numbers asap.

You'll get the same effects w/ running aftermarket MAF ends. It isn't that the wires are jacked, its that more air is flowing in than a ported or even descreened MAf will account for.

Anyone that sees a gain from either porting or descreening were running rich to begin with and they just lucked out that doing this mod balanced that out.
