2002 SS Camaro

I'm thinking about buying a 2002 SS Camaro. The one I'm looking at is grey, has t-tops, leather interior, and 48K miles. The owner says it's loaded and that the miles were highway miles. Would you consider this vehicle or with the miles, it's not even worth considereing? Should just look for one with about 30K miles instead? The only mods it has is an SLP Quad exhaust.

How much do you think this car is worth?

Right now I have a '94 Z28.

Re: 2002 SS Camaro

Me personally.. I would look at the block to see if it was an LS6 factory block.. (just because many of my friends have them as well..)

I wouldnt worry about the miles because my 2002 has 60K and I have had no problems..

the slp quad was probably on the car stock.. it was an option for SS cars.. I would get the vin and slp # and find out exactly what options were on the car.. that will let you know if you are getting the suspension upgrades or not..

the worth of the car is basically whats it worth to YOU and whats its value in the area.. often some areas are full of cars like this and the value is lower.. in others, its higher..

good luck.. is it an M6 or a A4? all fluid changes done properly? generally kept up well?

Re: 2002 SS Camaro

The car actually belongs to a friend of mine in a different state. If I get the VIN, can I figure out from that if it has the LS6? He said the SLP option was factory. So, hopefully that means it an actual cat back and not just exhaust tips and fascia. Is there a link to what he needs to look at on the engine to let me know if it's an LS6? It's a M6 and he says he's maintained it well.

Re: 2002 SS Camaro

SLP options werent just tips and stuff, it would be the full catback setup..
SS cars are numbered and that along with the VIN (i think) is all that is needed when calling SLP to find out all the options on the car...

Rule #1: Don't buy a car from a "friend" : i.e. if you intend on remaining friends. JMHO
