I like the SS model the best. When I take my camaro on the road I get followed by people who just want to watch the car ride or hear the big block rumble.Either car should never be left in a public place.

Yeah, I run errands in the Caddy now and reserve the Camaro for nice Sunday drives and such. The only time its left unattended is when its at a show and I'm walking around...and then their are enough car guys around that help watch each others vehicles.
Even driving it sometimes is a pain with some of the negative attention I get with everybody and their mother wanting to give it a go at a light. Must be something about the sound of a cam chunkin away through full exhaust, haha

Yeah, nobody wants to race in NEPA...

PHX though, forget it...Had cops try to race me, and that turned out to be a horrible night....

Get some pics up and more details about the car, i'm sure you'd get plenty of trade offers from here...or on ls1tech.

As mentioned...if i were you i'd just look for a good deal on an LS1 and add it to the stable

If I were to sell my 69 Camaro I wouldn't be selling it so easily. As far as having a LS1 2000 Camaro and the 69 Camaro there is no comparison which one draws more attention.I myself don't even pay attention to the LS1 Camaro's.There alot quieter and more low profile. Now a 2003-2004 Cobra sounds nasty and that car draws attention.Im not a Ford guy though even though i do have a slow 5.0. I guess my camaro looks and sounds like a race car but these days Im thinking low profile is less of a hassle.I never had anybody do anything to my Camaro except for once when i took it to work about 12 years ago. Some jealous racist threw gum on the windshield. That was no problem but I never did drive it and leave it in any parking place after that.Luckily back in those days im glad I never knew who threw the gum.

The only thing about the LS1 is i don't know if it would be fast enough for me.I can't compare it to my 69 because I have never been in a LS1.With the weight of the 69 and the aggravating tuning of the carb it just never runs the same way.

A stock LS1 will feel slower because of the where and how it makes it's power. But many have been fooled when they get to the track and find out that there calm and quiet LS1 car is quicker that there rowdy older ride.

Especially when tuning is not as complicated as with a Carb.I don't know how many carbs i went through on my 69.If I bought a 650 or 750 Holley Double Pumper the car always ran rich.I went through 100's of carbon fouled spark plugs.I sent the 650 out to some company rebuild and they put in a 4 corner idling circuit and it flows around 785 cfm's.It fixed the spark plugs from fouling.Thats the only good thing though. Now this thing runs so lean that the Idle creeps up to 1500 RPM's as the car warms. The 595/595 lift cam probably doesn't help the cause of the idling issues as well. Its just not a car you can take out and feel confident about.I can only guess what gas mileage is like because it has 4:11 gear's with no overdrive. My fuel gauge doesn't work.

You can make that LS1 sound just as nasty as your big block! I will post some exhaust clips of my car as soon as I figure out the issues I'm having with it! You will be VERY supirised!

I think its louder because of the header's and I got a 2 1/2 Inch exhaust with 2 chamber Flowmasters that go out through the side of the car rather then the back. Also a very lopey cam. When I was in my 20's I didn't care about the rattling of the big bock.Trust me when I start it up it will wake the neighborhood up.I got to decide if i want to keep it or not.Yeah the car looks great but how far can you go with it.No overdrive,4:11 Gear's.The LS1 cars get incredible gas mileage compared to these old cars.Just not fun having a car that today I hate to say it is out of style.Im seeing less and less of the old muscle cars on the roads these days.I could do some mods on my 5.0 Mustang even though Im a Chevy guy.Actually I would give up my 69 if I had something that was similarly fast.I have an 87 Turbo Regal that I know is faster then my 69 Camaro but I plan on keeping that.I just wanted a V-8 with a 5 or 6 speed manual trans in which I can run Nitrous with.Don't know if the 5.0 will be enough.

Not any louder than a long tube/true dual LS1 with bullets dumped at the axle

It sounded better with 3 chamber flowmasters and Dynomax mufflers flowing out through the back.It sounded aggressive but not like I was on the race track. It all depends if you want to draw attention or not.Look at the 87 Grand National's.Quiet as a pin drop and can easily run 10's in the quarter with some mods.I have always liked Turbo cars but only cars that came with Turbo's.I would rather have the faster car rather then worrying about how mean the car sounds. My only dilemma is that I have to have at least 1 car with a V-8 and manual transmissions.I don't like automatic trans cars but I do love my 87 Turbo regal.Like for the LS1 I would rather use Nitrous. It gets to expensive and then the tuning is to much of a hassle. If you have unlimited money then thats different.Nitrous also hits harder but I think Turbo's are recognized as the best overall power adder. It cracks me up when these guys buy a nice 2003-2004 Cobra and take off the supercharger and then install Turbo kits.
