2002 LS2 Camaro Vs. 1969 396 Camaro....

I have been thinking of selling my 69 Camaro for something I can drive without worrying about it.Tuning the carbs are a almost impossible and talk about bad gas mileage.I just wonder if the LS2 Camaro has enough power potential for me

It's Ls1 in 2002, but yes, it has the potential you're after...

They love nitrous...But as with anything, you abuse it, it's going to have consequences

They've never put an LS2 into an F-body..... yet....

Lots of potential. Check my sig. All LSx motors.

You can do a 150 shot on a stock LS1 with no problem.

The LS1 and the 4L60E are the ONLY things on my car that have been perfect in its 146,000 miles. Great drivetrain.

I have a 69 Camaro running 11.6 in the 1/4 and I had a 98 Z until the crash and all in all the 98 was alot more fun to drive but the feel of the 69 you can't beat.

Yeah but with 4:10 Gear's and no overdrive its just not a car that is meant to be taken and driven on the streets much. When I was younger I loved the attention i got but now years later its more distracting. In the last 5 years I have drastically seen a reduction in seeing these cars on the streets.I don't know what it would run in the 1/4 mile but its very hard to tune right.I have never been in a LS1 yet but if I did own one I wouldn't leave it stock.I also got an all stock 89 5.0 Rustang.Slow as hell.

Put an LS-based motor in that 69. Best of both worlds

Owning multiple cars costs lots of money and you can only drive one at a time.

I have heard of some of then being done.My problem is I don't think my 69 Camaro is a car i can take to the store without worrying about it.Sometimes the attention can be a hassle. For just cruising I can see that being a good choice with the LS!.Still buying and putting an LS1 and Trans, etc in a 1969 Camaro is not easy and will cost alot of money.Thats a major swap.Probably cost about $10,000 or more.

Also value wise Im not sure if it would hurt the value of the car.I think most guys would rather have an LS1 in there 69 Camaro's especially if they drive them and rarely race them.

Well I'm sure things would be a little better with a 4th gen than a 1st gen. I am a little timid about leaving my SS out in a parking lot somewhere. Last summer I had someone rip the SLP SS grille off the front of my car while I was at the mall. Luckily when I had bought it when SLP was liquidating their Camaro SS stuff I bought two of them. The one thats on now is secured alot better, and I rarely leave the car unattended anymore.

Here is a picture of the grille incase anybody doesn't know what I'm talking about.
