2000 SS suspension

I was wondering if there is a difference between a Z28 and SS suspension i.e springs and shocks. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, there is a difference. The SS has a level 1 suspension system in it, where as the Z28 has the factory setup in it. The level 1 is slightly lowered (I believe) and a little stiffer. You can corner a little bit better with it. Hope that helps a little bit

Either they've changed this or I got screwed. I don't have the level 1 suspension on my '02 SS. That was an option. I have decarbon shocks and 4X4 springs. So do all the other stock SS's I've seen.

I don't think there is any difference in suspension or drivetrain between the Z28 and the SS. The SS option was an "appearance package". The only performance oriented component was the hood scoop. And even that's debatable.

Edit *** Oh yeah. And the wheels/tires too.

The base suspension on all SS built after 11/99 have the Z28 suspension and 1LE front sway bar.

The Bilstein option has been available on all LS1 SS.

The 1LE option was an SLP option on '01-'02 SS, and could be ordered on a '98-'99 SS through GM.

'98-very early '00 SS have most of the 1LE suspension anyway, except for the Koni DA shocks.

If you don't have Y2Y options, then you have the base suspension. If you have Y2Y, you may or may not have the base suspension.
