Is the guage wrong? Is the stat broken? Or maybe the fans aren't doing their job? Help

As long as your car isnt a 98 you should be fine. In the 98 cars the gauge is completely functional. 99 and up is nothing more than an idiot light. All your supposed to care about is if the needle goes into the red. Chances are everything is fine and working properly. i wouldnt worry about it too much. Just get an Auto-Meter light and a gauge pod for acurate readings.

A 160 Thermo just starts cooling the engine at 160. Doesn't mean the car will run at 160. Plus I have heard that on th 99's and up they have the needle set so it doesn't move much even if the engine is running cool. They didn't want your every-day Joe freaking out if they saw the needle moving, Or at least I am told. Even if that isn't true if you are running at 200 on regular stop and go driving then you are running 10 degrees cooler than you were with your 195.

Yep, the gauge is pretty worthless. Best way to check is with A-Tap. My needle barely registered the change to a 160 t-stat...
