Hi

What I want to know is - with the mods in my sig and using 97 octane fuel here in the UK I thought I should be able to go way beyond 140mph. It appears that acceleration in 5th up to 120+ is impressive then I shift into 6th and crawl slowly to 140-145ish where the car seems to sit regardless of how deep I try to bury the pedal into the floor.

Is there a problem or is there some adjustment/tweak I can do to get up beyong 150/160?

I don't know about the manual's but I've had my auto up to 145 and it was still pullin.....I'm certain the manuals can do so as well, maybe you need a tune up?

 

No problem at all. 5th gear is where you'll find your top speed....not 6th. You'll hit your 150-160 in 5th.

 

yeah 6th gear isnt for accleration but fuel economy..

 

Yup...like they said, you need 5th. What RPM's are you shifting at? 4,000?? Because unless you have gears, you shouldn't be shifting out of 4th until ~130mph.

 

Wow, those dont seem right. The stock gears dont really allow you to go very fast in 5th. In my LT1 i would normally shift at around 120 in 5th and my rpms were between 5000 to 5500 i think, it was going up so fast i wasn't really paying attention.

151 was my max... and still climbing fairly fast... that was a little bit of a downhill.... only time i ever topped out... was 145.... with the t-tops off... UP a long hill... and it was still climbing... just hardly at all
