Best bang for the buck would be an Air lid, or even better, the SSRA kit or SLP full induction kit. Other things you should consider would be LT headers, a catback system, and definitely a new shifter. I went with a Pro 5.0 in my 01 SS and love it, but others like the B&M ripper.

lol "Cat back" from the factory. Anyway, longtubes/y-pipe (the stocker won't work), and a decent cold-air induction would be a good starting point. Probably won't get much out of a tune on a stock car, maybe a couple horses. Tune AFTER mods would be better.

Well, it's a "better" exhaust, but far from the best out there. SLP really didn't have much freedom to tune the SS's because they didn't want them to have more hp than a factory Vette.

You can find Mac midlengths new on ebay for like $475. They are a nice header for the money. SLP loudmouth would be noice to go with the center exit exhaust tips. If you get headers you will want cats though because the loudmouth is raspy without cats. March underdrive pulley is a nice addition.

My setup:
SLP LTs, ORY, Loudmouth catback, SLP FloPac, March underdrive, LS6 intake, ZO6 clutch, Pro 5.0, Free Mods, and SLP subframe connectors.

362 rwhp/362 rwtq

224/224 .581/.581 Comp X-ER 112 lsa
purchased this month, nice kitchen decoration...

Actually the SS exhaust is pretty good. IMO I wouldn't waste money on a cat back. If you want to help your exhaust get long tube headers. A cold air kit like the SSRA would also help a lot.
