Cool 01 SS = Couple ?'s

Whats up guys....been a couple years since I've been on the site and had an f-body, FORMER friend of mine totaled my 94Z. Long story short, I just got a killer deal on an 01 SS with 5,500 miles. The car was basically stock and I bought it from a 55 year old guy that didn't beat it. My only concern is that this guy couldn't fix himself a sandwich let alone install some mods. After going through the car when I got it home I noticed that the lid had electrical tape around it. After removing the tape I noticed that the IAT sensor was not installed (reason for the tape around the lid) and subsequently found it sitting in the glove box. I know this is not a huge deal but car was throwing a check engine code (scanned with scan tool before buying) for the MAF (it had a Jim Pace 85mm) of which he connected the 3-pin harness connector *** backwards supposedly this is supposed to ruin the MAF which i think it did because after reconnecting the wiring harness the right way and resetting the PCM the car would not run and still threw the code. This pissed me off so I decided to rip out the Pace MAF and put the stocker back in (he gave me all the original parts) after doing this, resetting PCM, and installing the IAT sensor the car ran great. (One of the MAF ends was also broken on the Pace when I pulled it out) Question is I think the car was running to rich? Do you think this could have caused the motor to dump excess fuel into the oil, which could lead to ruining my bearings quicker? Any ideas would be helpful.....

Question to MODERATORS - Anyone you can transfer my previous post and ratings from Chevy94Z to my new username?

how would gas get into the oil?

if it only had 5k miles...it can't be too bad.

i would just change the plugs and maybe the o2 sensors since they may be fouled...wouldn't hurt to run some seafoam to it also

Because if it was running too rich then it was probably loading up the cylinders which have oil in them, that oil eventually drains back into the pan. Thanks though.....

Congrats on the car! I think the bearings will be ok. Dont forget, in closed loop the comp is trying to lean the mixture (or richen depending on the vehicle) to get a perfect 14.7:1 ratio. Unless he drove all day WOT, then I think the pcm was adjusting for the excess fuel.
