Does the zexel posi unit require limited slip additive? Also what weight fluid should I put in the rear and how much does it take? Thanks

Zexel will tell you to follow the car manufacturer's guidelines. SLP should have included any modification to the factory Owner's Manual if the gear oil and LSD additive was any different for the Torsen.

I believe the standard limited slip on the 96 and 97 SS's was the standard G80 Auburn unit. The Zexel/Torsen diff was an option available from SLP at a cost of $999.

This guy used to be fairly active on this site. He put a lot of effort into documenting the 4th Gens.

Here is a mod list I got from slp website by entering my vin. It says torsen as a option. Also my rear has a aluminum diff cover on it.
