Sad thing is that kind of crap happens around my hometown all the time. I couldn't count how many "SS" cars and "Z" cars I looked at before I bought my Z and a lot were fake. One car lot has become notorious for that with vettes firebirds maros and stangs. They even had a 4wd lightning once.

Re: Z28 or not?

Even if it has a V8, it could have been a motor swap. Easiest way (even easier than popping the hood anyhow) is to just look at one of the stickers on the driver side inner door. There is one called an RPO sheet, which is basically a bunch of 3-digit codes. If it is a real Z, the RPO sheet, will have both Z28 and LT1 on it.

I did read his post. My comments were only meant to try to help the kid. I'm not bashing him or anything, it's just obvious that he doesn't know much about these cars. Everyone in this post is trying to help him distinguish between cars, but I knew it wouldn't be long before someone got all defensive for him. If he has a problem with anything I said, I'm sure he's capable of typing a reply.
