Holy crap! That sucks!!!! I hope that's an '02 or your insurance will probably total it!
I just finally got back our '95 Z28 that was hit over 5 weeks ago today. It had $3796.39 worth of damage! Pretty close to the value of the car!
Man oh man, I can understand how you feel. It sucks to see your baby get damaged.

Wow, my body shop must be pricy..
When my dad put my car in a ditch (seach back a bit if you want) it really didn't do THAT much damage.. I mean, panels and paint and some underbody stuff. Insurance covered it, but 5900! Gah!

5k liability limit? that sounds really fishy.
i rolled mine off the ramps into a light pole at the end of my driveway... lol
managed to locate salvage parts same color, in better shape than the parts that are coming off of it.
if you try and do part of it yourself, hit up Cleveland pick-a-part. those guys have lots of vehicles and my service and price was great.
paid $500 shipped for rear hatch including glass, spoiler, brake light - bumper cover with braces, lights, harness and support brackets and finish panel. all in matching color and excellent condition.

Yeah, I think that one's probably totaled. Maybe not, but probably. I think if I were you, I'd want it totalled. Buy it back, buy another z, and part out what's left.
I work at a bodyshop (Pontiac/Buick/GMC dealership) and you'd be surprised at some of the stuff that gets fixed and not totalled. Most everything that comes in has some sort of structural or frame damage. Some things get new frames, then there are other wrecks that don't look that bad, not much frame damage, newer vehicle, higher value, etc. that are considered a total loss. I guess it really depends on the insurance company and the adjuster.
We had a '00 Trans Am come in about 2 or 3 months ago with a hard hit in the front and some left quarter damage. One front tire was sitting completely outside of the fender, the other one was underneath the hood. The front rails were trashed. The insurance company bought a used front clip, the car was clipped at basically the rear flange portion of the strut towers, and it will probably leave the shop within a couple of weeks.
If I were you though, I'd figure on it being totalled.

I would do what jbird said. Buy it back if you are really attached to the car, take off what you want, and sell the rest. Put what you wanted on another black Camaro to make it feel like your old one.
