Yet another slow factory tach thread.. Can we mod it?

I got a 99 m6 LS1 and it is a real sleeper. I would like to keep it that way too. I've had just about had enough of the factory tach. Is there a mod out there to increase it's response? I really don't want a aftermarket tach.

There has got to be a way to get a accurate tach while keeping the stock look.

Any ideas?

sorry big guy, i just cant think of anything that would make your factory tach more accurate. there might be something out there that could simulate a corrected signal, but ive never heard of it. you could always read right into the signal using a scan tool or a tach you borrow, and get a rough idea of where the right signal is compared to your factory unit, and just remember that. to me the rpm's arent as important as peak power/red line. so once you find that, just lock that number in, and try and hit it every time. just my thoughts. plus they sell just the shift lights that you could tuck under the dash or in a vent, and you would not even need to use your tach. again, these are just my thoughts on the subject, sorry i cant be more help.

Actually I don't race.. Im pretty sure I have a clutch going out. Thats why Im trying to get a good rpm read. It feels like I got a little slippage, but the tach does not respond fast enough to know for sure.

Your chances of getting help now just plummeted.

It's obviously not something a lot of people can help you with.

Well its not like I had a ton of people chime in anyways. Also I didn't expect to get any intelligent replies.

Thanks for stopping by and increasing your post count..

Oh 87slyroc, I do thank you for your reply. You didn't know that I wasn't needing it for racing.
