Parked my car tonight, put it in park. And it rolled out as I got out! Went somewhere else later on, and same thing happened! I have to really shift it in to park hard for it to stay there. WTF is going on?!?

 

damn thats no good better bring your tire chalks anytime you go somewhere, wouldn't that be wonderful see your car rolling through an intersection or something, but anyway something must not be adjusted correctly or something is broken not engaging the parking pawl correctly thats something i definitely wouldn't wait to have fixed

 

Sounds like the shifter cable to me. If you take the center console out you should be able to see it. Runs from the shifter down to the transmission. If it looks ok you could try going underneath the car and shifting from there to see if you get different results than up top.

 

I'm going to agree that the shifter cable is most likely out of adjustment, wether it got stretched somehow or what.

 

The end plastic piece that is on the very end pointing towards the tranny lever can break too, that is what happened to mine. On the cable I mean.
