Would low rear pads cause ABS light?

Well, first off when I pull up my e-brake the dash light does not go on and once in a while the e-brake will engange tightly with the handle barely being pulled up. I have not had an ABS light for about a week (started about a month ago) and it came on again this morning. Turned the car off and on again in traffic and the light reset and never came back on the drive to work. My rear pads, atleast the outside ones, do not have much material left but they do not need to be replace immediately. Is it possible that the inside pads are shot or worn enough to cause an intermittent ABS light? I would rather not spend the few hundred on proper rotors and pads right now if I do not have to. ALso my e-brake is obvioulsy not holding as well as it used to, if I do not do it really tight the car moves when I get in it. There is no noise or vibration when braking, just the intermittent ABS problem. I just do not want to be driving in the winter and have my ABS fail when I might need it

The light usually indictates a manfuctioning ABS module, not low brake pads.
I think I would have the system checked.

Well, I know it wouldnt indicate low brake pads but I thought it might affect the sensor or something. The light was off for one week and in that time the ABS system was used atleast twice in the rain, once testing it out and once while driving. Just got another light today, weird

Dunno about our cars, but I know on my Daily Driver (1999 Mitsubishi 3000GT) It will light up the BRAKE light when any of the pads need replaced...My guess is due to the low brake fluid in the master cylinder, since the pistons pushing the pads are farther out, therefore allowing the fluid to be lower....However does this apply to our cars I dunno? I guess you could check the mastercylinder to "bust" this idea?

With just ABS, the only sensor in the rear is mounted on the top of the differential housing, measuring the pulse rate of a reluctor wheel attached to the carrier. Hard to see how a worn brake pad could affect that sensor in any way. In the ABS + traction control setups, there is a sensor in the backing plate at the end of each axle. Which setup do you have?

No traction control here, but from what you said low brake pads have nothing to do with it. I will check the connections on that connection at the housing as what I read said the sensors were behind the hubs and I didnt notice anything. Thanks for the tip, hopefully just a loose connection or something, it is just so random that I am not sure 1 week no lights, had one yesterday morning and has not come on since

You may want to check the sensor itself on your rear-end. It can pick up metal particles creating false pulses in which it can create your scenerio.

Just remove it from the top of the housing with the one bolt, It is only o-ringed in there so it will pull right out once the bolt is removed. Check to see if it has picked up metal shavings or other debris.
