wiring for white face guages
Hey guys, I got a white face gauge set, and need some help on the install. It has a little black box connected to it, with a single red, and a single black wire coming from it. Where do these wires go to? It came with no instructions at all so I am kind of clueless. I am guessing the red goes to a switched power source? Any help would be great. Thanks

... you got "Glow" gauges... ?
well... if the 2 wires come off of the gauges... my guess would be they light up if you apply a 12 V current to them, either to a switch so a constant Power source can power them, or Ignition on, so when your car goes on the gauges go on...
Or... wire them up to your so that when you turn your lights are on, the gauges are on
what brand of gauges did you get?

I would assume that they're for switched power, and ground, as you stated. You'll have to check a wiring diagram to figure out what to hook it up to on the instrument cluster, it would probably be best to tap into the wiring that's already there to avoid overcomplicating things. Just remember to check all the functions of it while everything is apart so you only have to do it once.

Re: wiring for white face guages
I'm not sure which brand they are, but I was surprised, they actually look quite good. I am definatley not one for all the neon and interior lighting mods, but I think these look nice. They glow blue, as does my cd player and such so i thought they would go nice. Does anyone know which wire is the power wire that is run for the exsisting lights?
Also, I dont have to take off the old gauges correct?, I just lay these right over the top of those, right? Thanks

They go right over the stock guages. All i remember is its a brown wire, maybe dark brown, but use a test light to see if the wire goes hot when you turn on the lights. Did you get the overlays off ebay? Any pictures of them?

Re: wiring for white face guages
they should lay right over....
im not knocking it, if it goes with your cd player it shouldnt be bad.
i found a manufacturer that does them pretty well for white....
do yours have a sticky backing to it?
any pics of the ones you got?

Re: wiring for white face guages
I found the dark brown wire you are talking about, so the red goes there, Is there any place by or in the dash to ground the black one, or did you run it through the firewall?

Anyways... I used the dark brown wire on the light switch for the power source, and then grounded it to a bolt that is holding the steering coloumn in place. They work great, Thanks guys for the help.
