Wiring issue with starter

I came home from work the other day and went to move my z28 and it wouldnt start but I could get power. We determined it to be the starter, and my mechanic replaced it but then the new one got fired when they were testing it. They are telling me there is a wiring issue now. Any clues to what the wiring issue might be?

Re: Wiring issue with starter

Did you meant to type "the new one got fried".... or do you literally mean it caught on fire?

They are the ones looking at the starter. What do they feel is the "wiring issue"? There are only two wires that connect to the starter..... the big "+12V" cable from the battery, and the purple solenoid wire from the ignition switch/theft deterrent relay.

lol.....yea i meant fried. I really am not sure what they think it is. All I know is that they put the new starter in and started it up 5 times and then they said it was fried.
