Which wire to tap into to get guage light to work with headlights?
I just wired in my Autometer tach and was wondering which wire to tap into to get the light to come on with the dash/head lights...I thought I saw somewhere where it was the brown wire coming off of the dash light dimmer control in the dash...Any ideas? Thanks...

You can either find the output wire from the rheostat that adjusts the dash lights - probe the wires with a volt meter and find out which one varies with the dimmer position, or I believe there is a fuse for the dash lights, and you can tap into the output from that by using a special fuse. Try a "search"... I know I've seen this covered before.

Thanks...I searched it for a bit, which is where I saw something about the brown wire off of the dash light dimmer ****..I was just trying to confirm it...For now I've got the light and power wires tied together so the light is always on...Which is fine with me...I'll try the search again...

Just a suggestion, if you have an aftermarket stereo then you could just use one of the dimmer light wires... one turns a +12 when the headlights are on and one other one is variable + voltage depending on the dimmer... last time i checked the standard is orange and an orange /w white stripe on them.
