Windshield wipers park in the "up" position
As title says. They work perfectly in every other way, just when you turn them off, they park up.
Recommendations? Working around in there looks to be a real PITA.

Re: Windshield wipers park in the "up" position
I just fixed this problem on a Lexus yesterday at work. I had to remove the wiper assembly and install the new motor to them get them to work correctly. I then hooked it back up and taped a pen to it to simulate a wiper arm so that when it ran, I could tell it was on right and not damage anything if it was wrong. You can run the motor with it not hooked up to the car and see if they are starting and stopping in the right place. He got his at a wrecking yard for $35. Because the part was so cheap, it wasn't worth the extra labor to play around with it. My shop rates are $48 and hour, so it doesn't take long in parts to get there.

Re: Windshield wipers park in the "up" position
So does it seem that something is damaged (as opposed to simply being pointed in the wrong direction)? The motor works fine, but that plus the fact that they park wrong leads me to believe that something is broken.
I don't work on the car much myself anymore and the shop I use (who I trust) said about $300 for parts and labor. Getting under the cowl on a 4th gen is really tough and maybe that's why their price is so high?

Re: Windshield wipers park in the "up" position
Its hard to say if something is broke without taking it apart. The one I did was just a bad motor, since it all worked after replacing it. The motor can function and be broke where is won't run correctly. Thats what its sounds like. The guy bought me lunch and a six pack and he supplied the used part, so the quote sounds high. I never worked on my Camaro's so I can't say how labor intensive the job is. I have done dozens and thirty minutes is the typical time it takes. But, were talking about a tight area on this vehicle.
