Windsheild Question??

because of the large wiper blades on Fbody's there is alot of scratches on the windsheild from the range of motion they move in...wondering if there is anything t do about them or are they there forever. Friend told me to try and wax the windsheild with a lite coating maybe some will "disappear" they get annoying when the sun hits them on an angle and blinds me while im driving.

Re: Windsheild Question??

I have the same problem. A Pro detailer told me that due to the "soft" glass in the newer cars it is not possible to polish the marks out. Only solution seems to be new glass. Guess I'll squint a little longer.

Cool replace the winshield

my son just had the windshield replaced on his 93 Camaro by Safelite. Price for installed windshield was $195.00 but add on new mouldings & tax total was $260.00. Still not too bad. Just another option............

Re: Windsheild Question??

yea ill try the glass polish...a new windsheild would be an option but, im only 19 and rather spend that 260$ on some headers or something to make it faster...like paul said "i guess i'll squint a little longer"

Re: Windsheild Question??

Is glass covered on your insurence? Just tap it with something so it cracks and then you'll get a new one free

Re: Windsheild Question??

ya i was trying to fix that today just with some thick wax, someone i know said to mix compound and XP, not sure if that would work tho, i heard compounds might leave swirls, either way i cant stand the scratches either, i HATE when the sun hits it, i also have the scratches on the outside of the side windows, and i dont know how to stop it from scratching

Re: Windsheild Question??

Door windows are cheap. You can get them on Ebay for $20 each.

The scratches on the outside are caused by worn out window mouldings. That moulding along the top edge of the door has plastic bumpers in it covered with a fabric on the inside edge. The fabric wears off and the hard bumper scratches the glass.

In newer cars, the moulding had a full length bumper built into them so they were less prone to wear out so quickly. I'd recommend gettting a new moulding from a discount parts place online, and ordering a new window on ebay.

I have a spare drivers door window in my garage. It has a couple very small scratches in it, but nothing really noticable.
