Window Switch Part Number / Ordering Question
Window Switch Part Number / Ordering Question
I broke the spring clips that hold my window switch panels into the door and need to buy a new panel. I found a few threads with part numbers, but I couldn't tell if they were the numbers for the exact part that I needed.
So does anyone have any idea what that part number would be? Just for the part of the switch panel that holds the whole thing into the door, I don't need the actual switches (driver's side only, 96 Camaro).
Also, I've never ordered from Jason Cromer before, but I need a few parts and figured I would give it a shot. Do I just call him up, tell him what I need, and ask him to ship it to me?

Take a one inch wood screw and run it through on the bottom side where it will go through the trim and hold it against the larger trim plate. There is enough extra plastic that sticks down there that is perfect for this. You wont see it at all once the plate is reinstalled on the door. The switch will never pop out of the door on its own again. Cheaper and more permanent fix. If you still want the clip Im sure somebody will chime in with a part number, as this is VERY common on our cars. The previous owner of mine tore it up where the clip wouldnt work anymore, so I came up with the wood screw idea for mine. Takes a minute longer to take your door panel apart, but its worth it.
Sounds like a good idea. The larger trim piece on mine is also gouged so it doesn't hold the clips very well either.
So do I run a screw through the larger trim piece and into the back of the window switch panel? Or through the side of the switch panel? Thanks for the suggestion.

I'll have to take a picture when theres more light, I ran mine into the smaller piece that actually holds the switches, where the head of the screw is against the bottom of the larger trim piece. I think I used 2 screws, been a while since I've had my door panel off lol. works good though and you cant see it from the top. Theres room to run one between the window and lock switches. It'll be a little difficult to get everything back in place since the switches will be in and plugged into the harness, but if you work with it, it'll be solid.
edit- Heres a picture from shoeboxs site that may help a little http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor1.html
If you take the switch and the bigger trim piece off then stick the switches back in the larger piece, run one screw where the arrow points to the clip, between the lock/window buttons close enough that it will hold itself against the bottom of the big piece. If I remember right theres a spot on the bottom of the switch plate to run one more through there. If ya need help I'll get a picture of mine tomorrow and post it.
