Window Motor Relay Mod - some advise for you....
I just did both sides this weekend. It woke up both tired window motors.
Just a note here for anyone considering this. I did this on my (now deceased
) '96 Z28. Shortly before the accident that took her life, the DS window would not go up - while it was raining of course
. Turned out that one of the relays failed. I replace both while I had the door panel off and when I opened up the bad relay I found it was very cruddy and corroded. The remaining "good" relay was not far behind.
My advise to anyone doing this - do it - it works. But, make sure you mount the relays inside the car under the dash. You will need to run 3 more wires into the door like this - but it is worth it for the longevity of the relays. IMO, it is too wet inside the door for the relays to have a long life.

The plastic cap on the relay can be popped off (at least on the relays I used). It therefore creates a way for water to get in since there is a seam. You probably could run some contact cement along that seam to protect them. Bottom line is water does get inside the door - and depending on where you mount the relays in there (really not many options) - you could have a problem.
I initially had them under the switch assembly on the DS - but it was hell getting the panel back on. I moved them down to where the speaker is - and they lasted a little over a year from that time.
Put them inside the car - like I said - it's only a couple of extra wires to run and there is ample room under the dash.

some sort of coating like the cement you mentioned is what i had in mind.
running the extra wiring doesn't mess with the overall resistance too much? ive been paranoid about wiring since i started reading this electricity book

i just did this on my passenger side yesterday. i mounted them in the door but also bagged them first just for this reason. will see how well it holds up. if not then i will move them inside. still have to do the drivers side, man the passenger window is faster now by far than the drivers and way way better than it has been since i have owned it. i would recommend anyone that has to do work on the inside of the door to do this while they are in there. it's well worth it.
Just my humble observation....
