window help

Hey all! Im having issues with my drivers window. When I press the up button it goes up all the way like normal. When it reaches the top the window motor wont stop spinning and it keeps trying to go up. I thought it was a bad motor so I replaced it but got the same results. I read shoebox site on adjusting the stops but it didn't work. Is there something I'm missing? Any info is greatly appreciated!

Re: window help

Switch is ok. I bought and extra one recently and put it on there and I still have the same problem. Isn't there a safety switch in the motor in case a child or someone gets there arm or finger stuck in the window path when closing? It seems mine is bypassing that. I think it might be the regulator. The window really shakes while going up and down. The other day when i went to go wash my car, water leaked in really badly and i can now pull the window a couple of inches up and down manually. Is the regulator hard to replace? Do i need to drill out rivets like with the motor?

Re: window help

The internal motor cut off will shut off the motor when it 'stalls' at the top of window travel. No matter how long you hold the switch the motor should stop running. If the motor continues to run then most likely the drive gear on the motor is stripped, or the slots in the regulator are stripped, or out of alignment (not adjustable). Pull the motor and inspect the gear as that's the easiest thing to do first.

Re: window help

I put a new motor in and it still did the same thing. Is replacing the regulator difficult? I've searched and there aren't any decent install guides for the regulator.

window help

It's tight, somewhat like a Rubiks cube. It's been a while, (thank god) Remove motor, front triangle guide, mirror, rear weatherstrip piece, glass, outer door top trim. I know you need to drill out a few large rivets, and if you look on the door shell, you will see a metal hook from the regulator assembly. Just take your time as the regulator is under spring tension. (Hurts, ask me how I know). Try to search the net, look carefully at what shoe has as far as pictures, and take your time. Plan on it being frustrating, I can't say that it isn't. Take breaks as needed.

Re: window help

One thing to remember is that the spring does not have to be removed in almost any case, so don't even try it. The actuator arm can be blocked from rotating using a variety of methods (bolt through the arm and frame is typical)
