Why my car never gets hot?

My temp gauge used to be always in the middle but after i took the car to a dealership for water pump, heater core, etc replaced, temp never went to middle. it always stays at 25% or cooler. wtf? My heater doesn't work and I flushed my heater, I fixed the leak and still nothing. I also replaced my thermostat yesterday (180*) and still nothing. seriously what is going on? any ideas?

thanks.

Be sure you got the correct 'stat, as the standard small block Chevy one will not work properly.

dealership did the job 2 years ago and ever since they did it heater never worked and i was too lazy to take the car back to them and now i am thousand mile away from them.\

so you are saying if the car doesn't have enough coolant, the motor runs cooler? I thought it would be even hotter.

can I just pour coolant to radiator and thats it or is there any other places where I can add coolant?

MOPARMAN: i bought the thermostat from autozone. I asked one for my car and they checked and they gave it to me. I dont know if that is for regular small block or not.

Be sure your fans are not stuck ON... Sounds odd, but it's possible.

Make sure the Stat is not suck open.. That will not allow the engine to build up heat properly. Also, Make sure the system is bleed properly. From what I've heard about LT1's, they're pickey about coolant bleeding and if not done right they have a tendency to over heat... which seems to be the opposite of your problem..

Look at the link to see the difference between the two thermostats.
