Where to mount B&M trans cooler?

I had some retards work on my car before and they just had the B&M trans. cooler zip-tied to the A/C condenser. I just took the A/C out. How should I mount the cooler? My buddy and I were originally thinking of just zip-tying it to the radiator. Is the radiator too hot (will it melt the zip-ties or will it cause the trans. to run hotter?) What is the typically operating temp. of a 4L60 transmission?

Most people put them in front of the radiator. that's where mine is.

Are you using zip-ties to mount the trans cooler or will they melt at this high of a temp.?

Zip ties would probably work, but I would use something that ghetto on my own car...

You need to use this:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Its only $11 and makes it look factory.

You could mount it "dope" style which actually mounts it to the plastic air damn under the car. I have never seen it mentioned here on camaroz28 but go to ls1tech and search for dope style and you will find pictures of it. Its pretty sick actually.

These were on the car with original cooler. Their basically just weird zip ties, I can't believe B&M has the audacity to call these a "mounting kit" and charge $11 for it. Outrageous.

you're partially wrong, the reason they mount it with those is so that there's not as much pressure on the rad fins. No matter what, when you are driving, there going to be pressure on the fins sideways, from the cooler bouncing around a bit. If you use zip ties, there will be a lot more pressure sideways based on the way they mount. I believe that you are also supposed to put spacers in between the rad and the cooler, not sure why.

I'll worry about all that when my car is actually drivable.. If they atleast sold these things in a decent size pack (instead of just 4) the $20 ($11 plus ~$9 shipping at summit) would be reasonable. But $20 every time I need to pull this thing off the radiator for some stupid reason is pretty ridiculous.

I'm definitely not arguing the cost point lol. I think you might be able to get away with zip ties if you used enough of them to spread out the pressure.

You can actually go to AutoZone, yea yea laugh now, right near where they have zip ties, they have stainless steel "zip" ties, except I think they crimp instead of zip.
