I think what's scratching your window is not the seal at the top but a rusty wheel inside your door that rolls against the glass. If you have vertical scratches in the middle of your window, chances are its the wheel.

Try any dealership.

There are no "wheels" inside the door that touch the glass. The item he needs if he has vertical scratches on the outside of his window is indeed item "B" in the diagram he posted. I have completely rebuilt f-body doors and know the inside guts like the back of my hand. Rob (Shoebox) has even used some of my material on his website.

Earlier (93-97) weatherstrips had 3 or 4 felt covered bumpers inside them approximately 1" long each. After time, the felt would come off them and the hard surface underneith would begin to mark the glass. The newer weatherstrips had a single continuous bumper integrated into them. This spread the wear over a much larger surface area and reduced the potential to mark the window. I know this because when I replaced the driver's door on my 94 Camaro with a door from a 1999 Camaro I noticed the design change.

And by the way, the part is interchangable between all years 1993 - 2002, so yes it will fit your 96.

I know this is really old, but I need these now. where can I get a set since no one wants to take them off the door for me? What's a reasonable price?

no, i was looking for the felt covered bumbers. i found them on gmpartsdirect.com for about $6 but the shipping is $10! thanks for the part numbers from your website, shoebox. anyone know where I can get these cheaper or local?

EDIT: found them at a local dealership for just over $9 which is gonna be much cheaper than shipping from anywhere. just FYI.

yea that is the peice you need I have had to replace both on my '94 z, driver side went bad about 2 years ago and passenger side went bad this summer. Also when this piece gets really bad the hard part will rust and fall off leaving bad marks on the window and the window will rattle really bad when all the way down

Do you know how hard it would be to replace the window completely? My drivers side is pretty scratched up. I'd like to get some new glass to replace my old one, but i'd hate to have to have it professionally installed.
