whats wrong with my engine

i have a 96 formula and it has had a knocking noise for 40k miles now. it sounds good on cold strtup but get louder as the engine heats up. i adjusted the rockers and the tick went completely away for abotu 30 mile. and the knock is louder from under the car. now do you guys think its a lifter or worn cam lobe or soemthing more serious. i need to find this thing.

but other than that the car runs strong, but is sucking gas bad
and the engine light wont shutoff for a rear o2 sensor

Well, if it's been running for a while, then it's not a spun bearing. That's the good news, now is the ticking noise RPM dependent? Does the ticking go up and down with the RPM's?

well the noise seems to get stronger when the rpms increase. and i once got the noise to stop for about 30 miles when i adjusted the rockers/ so i was thinking it was a lifter or ra cam lobe. but the thing that makes me secound guess that is the fact that the noise seems to be louder from under the engine.
