Whats up? New guy with a Question.
Hey whats up guys, im new to the site here so take it easy on me! lol. Ive got maybe a wierd question about my car, but its something that been bothering me for quite some time now cuz im neurotic. My z with 69,000 miles runs like a champ all the way around, no trans slippage, purs like a kitten, etc, but for the past, i dunno 35 or 40 thousand miles or so I have not been able to let out that fun, mean screech into second gear anymore. I was ALWAYS able, new tires or old didnt matter, let out a great sounding chirp going into 2nd. (car was stock at the time) It seems ever since some of the bolt on's i can NEVER do that anymore. Im just wondering what could be contributing to this, or if anyone else experiences this. Could it be the transmission wearing out, rear end wear? Hopefully some of you techs on the site can help me out. Thanks guys!!

As you have and automatic I would think this is just normal trans. wear. For you to get a chirp the trans. has to shift very quickly (time between first and second). And this "time" will increase with age. You could try servicing the trans., change filter and fluid. Also you can change the shift parameters via a trans. modual, like this.: Example: http://www.jegs.com/p/JET/748573/10002/-1/10549

With you tune up you need to also think about carbon buildup. with that many miles you could have decent amount of carbon and it is a power robber. There are many many things to decarbon and engine I would personally recommend going to the dealer and using their top engine cleaner. I come from a dealer and have used this stuff alot and it works great. Some parts personnel might look at you funny cause its not real normal for a person to just walk in and ask for it cause they will usually go to a parts store. Do a search and I'm sure you can find some reviews and opinions on what is best. If its not that I would lean toward the trans.

If you want to try the carbon thing I've heard of this stuff a few times but personally have never tried it.

thanks alot guys, youve been very helpful. Im really liking the Seafoam idea, ive heard MANY good things about it. I figure if thats not the problem, it couldnt hurt anyways. Im starting to lean towards trans wear, the fluid has been a little bit dirty and burnt smelling lately, although no slippage yet. With under 70 thousand miles I would hope I wouldnt have massive amounts of carbon build up yet, but who knows. Thanks again guys!
