What's that plastic in the trunk?
What's that plastic in the trunk?
Open your hatch, and look to the driver's side and reach in that storage hole and pull up the gray carpet stuff and tell me what those pieces of plastic are for. One looks like it's for air or bad smells or something, but what about the other one?
Re: What's that plastic in the trunk?
Nah, I don't have any pictures yet. But one looks like it could be a drain. You can stick your fingers through it and touch the inside of the back bumper, but the other one... looks almost like a tiny battery rack or something.
Re: What's that plastic in the trunk?
The one under your spare tire is a drain hole just in case your spare is dirty/wet i would imagine.
By the way, what is an air baffle? The top piece is just there, the bottom piece looks like it's supposed to let air out or something. I was just curious as to what they're real purpose was.

I'll get a picture tomorrow if I can get my camera here. The other piece seriously looks like just a small battery rack, or something there just to keep the carpet from falling in maybe? One side of it hangs from a piece of the frame of the car, and the other just sits on top of another piece of frame. Oh well, I'll get pics tomorrow.

There's an air vent that goes from the hatch well through the drivers side sheetmetal, and vents inside the flexible bumper cover. You can sort of see the edges of it in this pic, against the inner fender, sort of blocked by the nitrous bottle. It is not the canister. As Rob mentioned, that's completely outside the sheetmetal, right behind the plastic panel in the wheel well, and its a very solid plastic cylinder.
