What's this noise? Sounds like a Blower after New Alternator
Check out the video and let me know if you have any ideas.
I installed the 145A alternator and now I'm getting a strange new noise that sounds like I installed a super charger. The noise doesn't seem to be coming from any pulley in particular -. I spun all the pullies by hand and didn't notice anything funny. I also inspected the belt and didn't see anything funny - looks good. I've also attached a photo of how far the tensioner is stretched for reference - in case there's something funny there.

i have a similar noise, and its coming from the a/c idler pulley. got the part, just waiting for it to get warmer before i fix it. worst that can realistically happen is i damage the bearing even more, lol. its gotta be coming from a a pulley somewhere or other. spinning it by hand wont necessarily reveal the noise.

My 98 TA has made a similar sound since it was new, when the engine is warm and restarted. It goes away in maybe 5-10 seconds. I never worried about it too much. Also I recently replaced the alternator and the noise continues. What does the voltage gauge read while it does this?
BTW, all idler pulleys have long ago been replaced, as well as the water pump.

+1 for alternator.. I replaced my alternator and I've had the blower wine ever since....I asked the shop and they suggested its the type of stator in the alternator...
They swapped it for another one..it does the same thing.

well, i guessed it was the tensioner pulley, actually. took off the a/c belt, the noise went away. replaced the tensioner pulley, noise still there, so i figure its the idler. bought the part, but it got cold, so itll be another couple of months until i actually install it
