Whats involved with a CAM install?

Lets say, upgrading to a mild cam. Just a little more aggressive over stock. What is required? The companies say they can work with stock stuff ( Computer, Smog, etc) But everybody says new valve springs and timing chain, etc.. are required. What is necassary with a cam? I really dont want to spend over $500 install included. Whats the APX price for a CAM install?

Re: Whats involved with a CAM install?

I would not even think of a cam without replacing springs, timing set, retuned computer, etc. Probably not doable for $500 (not even conceivable if you are paying someone labor to do it).
Sure, you can just throw in a cam, but you won't be happy with the results and likely be wasting your money. Doing it right the first time is the best way. JMHO.
