I agree. I'd do 56 mph.

118? No fair. In the Green Z28 (1994), I maxed it out at 4000 RPM in 3rd gear. 104 mph. My 20 year old 4 cylinder Sunbird has seen 105 mph.

The GTA is bit faster. It maxs out 3rd gear (around 120 mph), doesn't shift into 4th at WOT.

The Green Trans Am (1994) will make the shift into 4th....but I still haven't been any faster than 120.

GM has made some dumb moves over the years. But 2.73 gears in a 104 mph limited Z28 has to be the worst.

140 with a ragtop (up) M6 '95 Z with minor mods. This was breezing across Kansas a couple of years back when I did a road trip from Kentucky. I loved those western roads that were flat, straight, with no traffic. I often cruised at 95. We don't have too much of that in KY. I hope to go again soon.

BTW, I've wondered how much the convertible top slows the car...anyone know.

178 in my GTA...mods were LT4 heads, 224/230 XR cam, full MSD ignition 650 dbl pumper, heddman longtubes and dual 40 series flows...that MF'er would run...

Bouncing the 6000 rpm limiter on the MSD...i had no idea how fast i was going untill i computed rear gear ratio, 5th gear ratio (T-5 car), tire diamater and RPM..i was gear limited lol..The RPM's were climbing pretty fast..if i would of pulled out the 6000 pill in the 6AL, probly could of gotten another 2-300rpm out of it...probly close to 190

did 145+ in both my 9C1 caprices

fastest ive ridden in a car was close to 200...that was intense

wifey was scared sh!tless at 145 lol

152 when the SS was stock, in 5th gear. I'm sure it will dust that number with the supercharged 383.

I clicked the wrong box. Had my car up to 167 mph and it was still pulling. I would guess it tops out at 172 mph or so.

You guys are out of your minds. Stay away from me!

I did see a couple of NJ people in this thread - it just aint happening in this state. If it isn't the lack of straight road, traffic or the cops its deer.

I think I got to 75 once.

Nah - maybe 100+. I got too much to loose with 3 kids to be 150mph insane. Besides, its not the top end it's how fast you get there.

I've always wanted to try a standing mile. I figure my car is good for at least 145mph, in a little more than 30 seconds.

We got upto the 155mph limiter in our BMW 750i on the Autobahn. The car was still pulling hard with 4 people in the car plus luggage for 2 weeks. We were going to miss the pickup time for our rent-a-racer race prepared car for the Nurburgring.

Theres a few places on 287 & 78 during off peak hours to do 100mph+... It's called keep up with the "Out-of-State'ers" and form a car train doing 95-130mph with the Idiots from NY or PA get the ticket. (Just kidding!)
