96M6LT1 is right on the money. I have dual batteries in the trunk of my 69/Z w/ welding cable. The welding cable works best because its fine strand and easy to bend & route under the car. Another good idea is to install welding cable quick disconnects ~ makes it real easy to get the batteries in & out.

if you use thin guage wire/cable you can cause a fire from the cables getting overheated
look at the battery relocation kits and look at the guage cable they use..keep it safe bro!

There is no such thing as "a bit much" when it comes to current draw from your battery. In addition, you're going to be adding 10-12 feet of length to the cable as well. The cable size means everything when re-locating the battery to the rear. Save yourself a headache and use the 0-2 cable.
