what exactly is a "pulled head"

i found out what's wrong with my car. they used a really small camera and put it inside of the engine and apparently it's a "pulled head". but i'm not really sure what it means. a little help?

Re: what exactly is a "pulled head"

well i was told by the salesperson, not the mechanic, but in the phone message he said a "pulled head." i'm calling tomorrow morning to give them the ok to do it. it's going to cost around $1000 to do. the dealer is covering the first $600. better than nothing i guess. they also said they'd have it done by next wednesday. so i'm assuming that after the parts get there they'll start on it monday or tuesday. i'm just glad to have this thing almost over. this has been a 3-month long ordeal.

it will be nice to have my camaro back, it's a little better chick-magnet than my '92 buick regal. although my regal's exhaust is 10x better.

Re: what exactly is a "pulled head"

talked to the mechanic yesterday morning and the valve on the 3rd cylinder is shot. he said there was no compression at all. i asked him how the general condition of the engine was and he said "good. the compression on all the other cylinders was excellent." i then asked him what he thought was the cause. he just said it might be a fluke. he couldn't hardly believe that something like this happened to a 3.8, but he called around and talked to a couple other guys, and they said that it is rare, but it still happens.

so he's going to start tearing it down first thing monday and should have it done by this coming wednesday. bad thing is, i'll have to pay the first $600. the dealer will get everything after that, and the bill is expected to be in the $1000-1100 range. he payed for the diagnostic at one other shop which was $100, so i think he means to basically split it 50/50. which is still horse****, but better than the jerk who sold me the car. he told me "believe me, man, if there was anything i could do monitarily wise, i would." good thing that butthole got fired!
