Weird, possibaly acidic fluid dropping from under my right wheel well???

When I leave my car sitting for long periods of times, (I'm talking days not hours) I notice there is a small puddle of dirty blackish greyish yet transparent fluid, it isn't very thick but it's definately not watery either. My first guess was maybe antifreeze? I took a whiff, WHOA it's bitter! Not the sweet and tangy smell you get from coolant. Also when I touched it, it STUNG LIKE HELL!!! It isn't black enough to be oil nor does it contain any of the color of Antifreeze or Transfluid... What else could this be given it's leaking EXTREMELY slowly and only under the passengerside fender well? Possibaly Brake Sliding Pin Lubricant??? Battery Acid? I checked the stock AC-Delco battery and ON TOP everything looks fine...

Also when it dried up, it left a HUGE white area in the garage... a white texture with the concrete instead of a dark area which most petrolium products leave....

Concluded, it is leaking from underneith and somehow making its way inside the wheel well, everything under the battery is corroded to hell, no paint left... What is a good replacement battery? I really didn't desire to spend much for an Optima so my limit is around $70...

You might also worry about fixing the lack of paint... if the primer ate it down to bare metal, it will rust quickly.

Definitely get it out and remove anything with acid on it especially the battery tray and get a new one from the stealership. And wash everthing under there thouroughly with soapy water. If you see any bare metal get some type of primer or rust preventor to spray on it. The Optimas are pricey but they are gel so you dont have to worry about acid again. Ac delco batteries are good too.

Interesting I noticed you're from my state, and about 120 miles away... Would you happen to know how much a battery tray would cost? Will those spray primers from Autozone work okay? Also erm, is there any possible way to rematch my red paint and repaint this area??

Edit: Also, how are DieHards and Duralasts?

I've had good luck with Duralasts, I have Duralast Golds in 3 of my cars. I have an Optima red top in the Vette, and that seems good too.

Not and engine tech question.

Don't worry about the battery tray. It's plastic. The only thing to replace might be the bolt for the hold down.
The fender and fender inner are also plastic so corrosion is not a concern for those parts either. Again it's just the fasteners and a lower front fender brace.

You'll want to neutralize the acid with a baking soda mixture and try to remove it all the best you can.

I Picked up a used battery tray from a Wreaking Yard for 35 bucks, Do note that the battery tray is also your Coolent recovery tank.

Took me about 15 min to replace.

Die Hard Gold from Sears are good, and have a excellent replacement warranty. AC Delco batteries are good and have up to 7 year warranty, but don't get them from the dealership, I had one priced for our Intrigue it was $109 for the battery not installed.

if you get an optima battery it will never leak cause there is no way for it to leak.

Why would you replace that?? The acid shouldn't have done any damage to the plastic.
