Weight Reduction

What all parts/insulation and **** can i pull out that arent necessary? all suggestions are welcome. Also would like detailed instructions for pulling out the airbag system. Does anyone know how much weight I will save by pulling out all the insulation and foamy **** under the carpets? I would like numbers and I am interested to hear weight for all suggestions. I want to have a normal looking interior as it is a daily driver, but i am willing to pull the passenger seat/rear seats on track nights. thanks

I would like to see some numbers to see if its really worth the time and effort to strip all the crap under the carpeting and behind the panels and everything

Re: Weight Reduction

check out brent franker's site, he has a DETAILED list of weights for all kinds of things...down to less than a pound.

but honestly, i think at best you could manage 50lbs without sacrificing comfort.

Re: Weight Reduction

ls1tech.com has a huge thread on weight reduction. It gives you the weights, you can decide if you can live without the parts it deletes. Reducing weight increases performance, simple physics. Reduce the weight 100# and you should increase your MPH almost 1mph and reduce your ET by about 1/10th second.

Re: Weight Reduction

The one thing I removed that I wish I hadn't is the insulation under the carpet. Lots of road noise and exhuast noise and seems to have more rattles and such. It just made the car seem cheaper and only drops about 15 lbs or so. I'll be adding some more back under the carpet later.
