Upper core support replacement?

i want to cut out the majority of the upper core support and replace it with tubing so i have more room for my radiator, turbos and all that good stuff...how much wieght is on this peice? the car is on stands with the k member and engine in it, but thats about it, other than that, its an empty shell. what kind of braceing do i need to do before i cut the upper core support out?

The lower is still intact tieing the subframe rails together, and i was thinking just a peice of tubing tacked between the rails would make it all strong enough...what do yall think?
