Expect to pay ~$500 at a shop familiar with the cars. Book labor on a cam swap is almost 18 hours

Plus it depends if they run into any trouble along the way tybyrn gave me a quote of 700 bucks conservative side. Remember you have to buy new pushrods, head bolts would be a good idea, valve springs, possibly lifters, timeing chain, gaskets etc. All that crap adds up to about a grand and change in parts and the cam itself. Most cams that are decent are 300+ dollars. I have seen some as high as 800. So all in all your looking to spend your tax return money in a hurry.

Re: typicalprice for installing cam.

Shops that I have talked to around my area are outrageous. They qutoed me almost in the mid $1k range for just a cam install. Even a little more than that just for putting on some heads alone and nothing else. My part of the world sucks!!
