Re: Tire pressure

Hi-pro tires will say 44 psi, but you don't want to fill then to that. Inside the door frame, drivers side is a sticker that will say the proper tire pressure, 32psi. You can run lower pressures in the back tire for better traction, but that will kill your gas milage and wear out the tire faster. Remeber to check your tires after thay have been sitting long enough to cool off. Alos, every 10 degree drop in outside temp. will lower the tire pressure by 1 psi.

Re: Tire pressure

Somewhere between 30-35 psi cold. I found that 35 psi for extended miles wore the center of my 245/50-16's down faster than the corner. I had to keep them about 31-32 psi in the rear.

Fronts can be a few psi higher to counteract the cornering forces applied to the corner of the tire. I keep my fronts at about 34-35 psi cold.

My new 275/40-17's are similar. I have 35 psi in the front, and 33 in the rear.

Just keep an eye on your tire. If the center is wearing too quickly, then the presure is too high. If the corners are wearing quickly, you can bump it up a little.

Rotation is key. No more than 6000 miles before rotation.

Re: Tire pressure

I run 32 front, 28 rear around town for even wear. Bump em both up to 36 for road trips.

Re: Tire pressure

The pressure stated on the tire is max pressure. Unless your car is loaded to the gills and you go on a road trip, you should never fill them that high. Use the sticker on the door as a starting point. Observe tire wear and adjust accordingly. 32 front and 30 rear works well for me. I might bump it up a few pounds for an extended road trip.

Re: Tire pressure

For my IROC-Z with two people, I run my 245/45/ZR17's at 32PSI all round. Just remenber when the tires get hot the tire pressure goes up.
