thermostat question
Re: thermostat question
Your computer will keep it in open loop too long. Prolly run really warm all the time. Maybe too cool. the motor does have a operating temperature.

Re: thermostat question
Well I had a thermostat go out in a parking lot and did not have another so I ran it open for a couple of day's. The car did take a little longer to warm up but it ran much warmer than my hypertech 160
Re: thermostat question
i wouldn't
it may circulate the coolant to fast to addiquatly cool it in the radiator.
if you want to keep it a bit cooler without spending the $$$ on a stat. drill a few 1/8" holes in the stat around the outside.

Re: thermostat question
Some race cars (drag racing is what I'm referring to) dont run them and it will take longer to warm up and should run warmer when it warms up an engine does have a proper operating temp most gm vehicles is around 180 to 200. It shouldn't hurt anything but won't help either.

Re: thermostat question
Except for the guy that claimed his radiator boiled over because he ran too much water on the coolant mix. Says it boiled over at 213degF. While the boiling point at sea level is 212degF, the stock LT1 radiator cap keeps the system at 18psi(g). At that pressure, the boiling point of water is 255degF.
