M6 x 1 x 25. Make sure you don't over tighten them. Torque is 89 INCH pounds.

Will do Rob thank you sir,I appreciate the quick response 😃 also I'm really confused about my fans the way they use to operate,my fan 1 would come on @ low speed like 175 degrees, then high speed kicks on a lil bit above 180 and my temperature always stayed around 190 but fan 2 only came on in the summer time. That was last year.

Now that I finally got the camaro back together,my fans have been acting weird,my fan 1 comes on at like 190 degrees high speed,n the temperature won't go down n the fan 1 is staying on n not turning off.

After I shut down the car I don't hear boiling or sizzling,I hope I bled it good,I stopped the bleeding as soon as i seen the the coolant coming straight n stopped spitting.

Thank you guys 94 Chevy camaro z28 lt1 m6 stock

Re: thermostat housing bolts

The factory fan setup is EITHER:

- fan 1 at the lower temp (or with AC or defrost), fan 2 at the higher temp.

The above was used on 94's "early" in the model year. The system only has 2 relays.

OR

- both fans on low speed at the lower temp (or with AC or defrost), both fans on high speed at the higher temp.

This setup was used on 94's "late" in the model year. This setup has 3 relays.

There is no factory setup that uses a combination of a single fan operating at low and high speeds.

For stock, your second description sounds more normal than the first one, but cooler than stock would operate. Has the PCM been altered?

Yes the previous owner changed the programming of the fans when I first bought the camaro, the temperature would never go past 190 always stayed between 185 to 190 degrees.

I remembered the low speed on fan 1 came on at 175, then like 185 degrees high speed same fan 1 kicked on.

In the summer time the fan 2 would come on if my gauge got to 190,n that fan would come high speed

Hey Rob fans seem to be working properly, but I'm having problems with my thermostat housing I'm getting coolant seeping through n bolts are torque properly too. I'm wondering if it's leaking bcuz it needs anew seal.

I bought a new o ring seal just now but was thinking about a t stat gasket instead bcuz o ring seems to give me a problem, but nobody has them only the o ring seals, but before I install it. Do I need to put black silicon on the thermostat housing to seal it to help the o ring?

Or do just put the o ring seal in? Thank you guys

Re: thermostat housing bolts

The only seal needed should be the o-ring on the thermostat. It is a machine fit, so make sure all surfaces are very clean. There is no gasket like with previous SBC thermostats.

Re: thermostat housing bolts

Are you sure you have the correct LT1 thermostat? Rob's site has an explanation of the differences, compared to the earlier Gen 1 SBC units. Does your t'stat even have the rubber seal that should have come with it, already installed? Again, Rob has a picture.

Rob and Fred ok I just now went to run the camaro sounds perfect very happy,but.......I still am getting a seep of coolant slipping through the t stat housing,it's coming slowly then goes away n i see bubbles to in the housing too.

I'm using the correct t stat The long one NOT the sbc one, also the o ring Seal for the t stat housing is new n the brand is fel pro,but I heard the ac delco seal is better, but what ever u guys suggest I do. Thank you guys

Re: thermostat housing bolts

No idea what t'stat seal is the best. After 20 years, my Hypertech t'stat and the seal that came already installed on it, has never leaked. This is not a typical place for an LT1 coolant leak. Maybe the housing surfaces are damaged, or the bolts are bottoming out before they fully tighten the housing.
