The tail lights on my 84 work when the parking lights are on, but when I push the breaks, neither side lights up. What do I need to check on first?

Also...
My reverse lights, they flash on when shifted into the reverse gear but go out after the flash.

There is a red ground wire attached to the body of the car, but the wire is not connected to any distributer/connection.

First I would check all fuses.

Then get a wire tester and check the break switch on the Brake pedal to see if thats ok, then move on to the headlight switch maby?

also check your bulbs, but im assuming you did this alrety.
